The climate of this region is warm in the summer. Also sometimes it gets very hot in summer. In summer the temperature can be from 30°C to 40°C top. In winter the temperature can be from -30°C to -40°C lowest. There are long, cold winters and short, warm summers. There are swamps, lakes, hills, basins and
mountain ranges.
The canadian shield contains some of the world's oldest rocks in the world. This landform is home to many metals and minerals. The canadian shield covers about half of canada. It has rocky hills and thousands of lakes, rivers, streams and marshes. The glaciers of the ice age spread across the canadian shield.
These are the waterways of this region. The eastern shores of Great Bear Lake, Great Slave Lake, Lake Athabasca and Lake Winnipeg, and the northern shores of Lake of the Woods, Lake Superior and Lake Huron, and the north shore of the St Lawrence River.
There are many trees and plants and animal life in this region. There are only a few people that live in the northern part of the canadian shield. The shield is a horseshoe shaped region. The canadian shield have many natural resources. The canadian shield is a very rocky region. You can travel by boat, feet, car, etc.... Most of the water in the canadian shield drains into hudson bay, James bay and the Atlantic ocean. Indians settled this region before the europeans came. There is a lot of rain in Quebec and Newfoundland.
